Instead of graphic tees we are talking graphic sweatshirts today.
Chic is probably not a word that comes to mind when talking about sweatshirts. Particularly graphic sweatshirts. When I think of graphic sweatshirts, my mind often goes to the hoodies we’d receive when playing sports in school. You know, with the school name and logo printed across the front? However, nowadays there are plenty of non-school logo options available.
I’ve purchased quite a few graphic sweatshirts the past couple of months and have had some fun with dressing them up a bit more. Wearing a sweatshirt does not have to look lazy or like you didn’t feel like getting dressed that morning. It’s now a piece you can easily put on, dress up and look totally chic. And the best part, you’re still wearing a sweatshirt, so the comfort factor is definitely still there.
One of the ways I’ve come to love styling my graphic sweatshirts is pairing them with a blazer. The blazer is always the perfect topper to any outfit, so why not a sweatshirt as well? It is the perfect piece to take a graphic sweatshirt from looking like something you just threw on to be comfy to an incredibly chic look.
Another way I love to make a graphic sweatshirt appear more chic is pairing it with a pair of pants in the same color palette. My love for monochromatic dressing is real (my favorite monochromatic look) and it’s the perfect way to make any outfit look put together, modern and chic. Even graphic sweatshirts.
A couple things to note when dressing up graphic sweatshirts…
First, keep the graphic simple. You don’t want anything too busy or over the top. Secondly, make sure the fit is just right. I’m not opposed to making an oversized sweatshirt look chic, but if it’s too oversized it will be hard to avoid looking super casual.
